Dewey Staley, 93, passed away on January 28,

2019 at his home near Vashti, Texas.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 1, 2019 at 10 am, at the Vashti Baptist Church in Vashti with Rev. Robert Slayton officiating. Burial will follow in the Vashti Cemetery in Vashti, Texas under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Dewey was born on March 12, 1925 in Newport, Texas to Joseph and Mallie (White) Staley. He served in World War II as a Mess Sergeant in the US Army. He married the love of his life, Betty Jo Horn on Oct. 5, 1946 in Jack County, Texas. They were married 72 years, and never had a cross word. Dewey worked as a cattleman and dairy farmer, and served as Deacon in the Vashti Baptist Church for 50 years.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Mallie Staley, one brother Doyle Staley, and his children Laquita “Kita” McGhee and Ricky Staley.

Survivors include his wife Betty Jo Staley of Vashti; sister, Thelma Louise Anderson of Wichita Falls; daughter-in-law Carla Staley Cotton and husband Craig of Vashti, son-in-law Pat McGhee of Burleson; grandchildren, Shane McGhee and wife Treka of Euless, Brandon McGhee and wife Amy of Burleson, Sasha Staley Kelton and husband Matt of Vashti, and Ethan Staley of Bellevue; and six great-grandchildren Lauryn, Teagan, Kayley and Kamryn McGhee, and Ben and Iris Kelton.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Davis Funeral Home 6-7 pm.
